Easy Trip Abroad: Johor Bahru to Singapore

Queens Street Bus Terminal in Singapore

On Friday, September 12th, I took a day trip from Johor Bahru (JB) to Singapore by land.

On the way there, I followed the line of people doing the same thing.

It was around 9am on a Friday morning, but there were quite a lot of people. Hundreds of people?

After passing through immigration at the CIQ facility connected to JB Sentral Station, I lined up and got on the bus.

I paid for the bus fare with a debit card when I got on.

The bus crossed the bridge between JB and Singapore. It took a few minutes.

I got off the bus and went through immigration for Singapore.

I had a little trouble with the online entry card to Singapore.

After selecting Land and Bus from the options, what should I fill in the "Vehicle Number" (required)?

I asked the attendant, and he wrote "BUS" for me.

(This is probably the flight number field for air travel, but I wish they would make it a system where you don't need to fill it in for land travel.)

For the next bus, there were three routes to choose from, and I chose Queens Street, the closest to the city center.

It took about 30 minutes to get to the bus terminal and a few minutes' walk to the subway station.

To get to the subway, you just need to tap your debit card at the gate.

Under Two Hours to the Central Area of SG

It took just under two hours from JB Sentral station to the center of Singapore.

More than half the time was spent moving around the building to process paperwork and waiting in line for the bus.

It would probably take even less time if you go from Monday to Thursday.

The way back was easy.

I went to Woodlands station at the northern end of Singapore, and then to the bus terminal connected to the station.

I took a few minutes' bus ride to go through immigration, and then a few more minutes' bus ride to go through immigration, and my day trip to Singapore was over.

It was the easiest trip abroad of my life.

And the cheapest trip to a foreign country because I moved only by bus and subway during the trip.
