Phnom Penh Trip (July 9-12, 2025) I traveled to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, from July 9 to 12. Phnom Penh is a developing city among Southeast Asian capitals. Perhaps because of this, I was able to sightsee peacefully. Even though the temperature is almost the same, it is cooler than KL. This is probably because the density of high-rise buildings has not yet occurred, and the river breeze of the Mekong River and the Tonle Sap River passes through. Photo shows sightseeing boats lined up on the Tonle Sap Riverbank The City Of Tuk Tuk Phnom Penh is a developing city compared to other Southeast Asian capitals. It does not have a city tram like Bangkok or KL. It does not have high-end shopping malls like those cities or Jakarta. However, the city is neatly divided and there are plenty of sidewalks and crosswalks with traffic lights. Having said that, it is hot, so I do not recommend walking around. Basically, tourists will use a three-wheeled vehicl...
Visit to Kuching, Sarawak capital city Old city area of Kuching Last week I went to Kuching in Sarawak (3 nights). A while ago I wrote a blog in Japanese about the Sarawak long-term visa (S-MM2H) and it became a popular post, so I thought I'd write about whether it's a good place to live (for foreigners like Japanese people). Old city area fits for sightseeing The basic characteristic of the city of Kuching is similar to Penang (Georgetown) and Melaka. The old town with its historical buildings and the new town that expanded independently. Even though it has become quite a city, there is almost no public transportation and you have to rely on Grab to get around. It's easy to get around for historical sightseeing because the famous places are clustered together. Around the S-shaped bridge (Darul Hana Bridge) over the Sarawak River, there are the remains of the white king Brooke's family, museums, and the old Chinatown (similar to C...
Super Apps Commonly Used in KL By Ben Wada, March 24, 2024 What super apps are most used in KL? I asked Google Gemini. The answer is: Kuala Lumpur (KL) is seeing a rise in superapps, which are all-in-one apps that offer a variety of services. Here are some of the most popular ones: Grab: This superapp started out as a ride-hailing service but has since expanded to include food delivery, mobile payments, grocery delivery, and more. It's the most downloaded superapp in Malaysia Shopee: This e-commerce giant has become a major player in the superapp space, offering not just online shopping but also food delivery, mobile payments, and entertainment. Shopee is likely Grab's most formidable super app rival in Malaysia AirAsia: This airline company has launched its own super app that includes flight booking, hotel booking, ride-hailing, and food delivery. Touch 'n Go eWallet: This e-wallet started out as a way to pay for tolls but has since expanded to include mobile payments...
